On My Shelf
Just finished: Calling Dr. Laura, a Graphic Memoir by Nicole Georges. Stunning, honest, and heartbreaking look into navigating the mystery and dysfunction of family and love.
Next Up
The Daylight Gate by Jeannette Winterson. Since I first read Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit I’ve been a devotee of Jeanetter Winterson’s provocative and gorgeous writing; this book, I’m sure will offer up a treasure trove of dark fun as it is a dive into the trial of the Lancashire Witches in 1612.
MaddAddam by Margaret Atwood. Anything by Ms. Atwood, I highly anticipate, and I’ve been holding off reading MaddAddam, which is the third in the trilogy (Oryx & Crake, Year of the Flood), as that would mean I’ve come to it’s end (maybe, maybe not).
Books I’ve Adored Lately
Fiction:
The Round House by Louise Erdrich
We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler
Sarah Thornhill by Kate Grenville (3rd in the trilogy—check out The Secret River, and The Lieutenant)
Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingsolver (loved The Lacuna too)
The Cat’s Table by Michael Ondaatje
The Buddah in the Attic by Julie Otsuka
Poetry:
Doubters and Dreamers by Janice Gould
Femme’s Dictionary by Carol Guess
The Voluptuary by Paulann Petersen
Head Off & Split by Nikky Finney
Crow Mercies by Penelope Scambly Schott
Driving One Hundred by Barbara Drake
A Wild Surmise by Eloise Klein Healy
